I missed my period!

There are several reasons why women between the ages of puberty and menopause may miss her menstrual period. The most common reason for a missed period is an undiagnosed pregnancy. When a women reports missing her period, the first thing Women's Health Providers do is a pregnancy test.

After pregnancy has been ruled out, other factors such as stress (holidays, final exams, presentations), other illnesses or medication, a change in eating habits, increased exercise, or weight loss/gain will be considered by the Provider. Any of the above changes may cause for a woman to skip a period.

Some oral contraceptives can also cause a woman to skip her period. The estrogen content in these pills is low, which causing the endometrial lining of the uterus to become thin. Over time the menstrual periods will become very light and may even result in a skipped period. Other contraceptives, like Depo-Provera may cause a woman to stop having periods altogether.

It is important to note that in the absence of pregnancy, woman may occasionally miss periods. This is usually normal. If you have missed 2 or more periods in a row, we encourage you to make an appointment with Women's Health.

If you are not exercising too much and eating too little, this should not be happening. Have the Dr. check ALL your other hormones...estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and have them do an IGF1 and ACTH test to rule out pituitary problems. I lost my period for 1 year before they figured out there was something wrong with my pituitary. Also have them check you for hashimotos antibodies...if you have 2 things going on with your thyroid, one making it hypo and one hyper it will look normal on the test. This happened to me and I had hashimotos AND hypopit. Good luck.

If you are not ill, tested as not pregnant and not under any stress then you really should go to a doctor. There can be a number of reasons why your period has stopped from growths to early menopause.

well i think if u excersise a lot, or more than normal, then it can skip or not flow as much or something. hope this helps.

oh! and today im deciding to be a good daughtor. see, my mom sells this stuff called arbonne. (actually she just started) and its got everything from dietary suppluments to hair products to make up to hormone creams. im not sure, but i think the hormone creams might help. of course ask ur doctor first. but if u want, just email me and ill give u all the necessary info.

Have you taken a pregnancy test? Also our bodies go through changes. Have you have any changes in your life lately? Some times it just happens but don't let it go to long before you have it checked by a Doc. My step sister had the same problem and I think they put her on a pregnancy pill. It just made her run on time.

Very strange indeed. Sounds like you need to see a gyno right away. Cervical cancer, uterine cancer and ovarian cancer could be a possibility. Why would you wait 4 months?? Get going.
