Sometimes it depends on the field of work, some jobs you cannot be promoted past a certain level without a degree. Other times it depends on how much money for you is enough/to be successful. In truth it really comes down to hard you're willing to work, thats not to say that you have to get a formal education to work hard, I'm saying that your amount of effort will directly correlate with your personal success in nearly every case.

There is a lot of advantages of obtaining a formal education, but then it also depends on what your interests are and what you would like to do as a career. I have known several people who are perfectly happy working as a plumber, electrician, HVAC etc. However, there is a large cost associated with obtaining a formal education. If you don't have the money then get a student loan or maybe join the military to help offset the costs of a secondary education.

Good luck.

It depends on what you want to do and how you define "success". Vocational training only gives you knowledge of one area, so if you later need to change careers or areas, you will need further education. Formal education gives you the benefit of a wider base so if you need to change careers later, you will be able to do it.

Vocational training is "enough" but make sure it's what you want.
