Because the art of running a smooth household is to delegate tasks to all parties living in that home. Right now you grumble, but you will know what it takes to maintain a clean, welcoming environment when you move out and on your own. It teaches you teamwork, responsibility, a connection to the household and a contributing part. My children have had chores since they could walk and follow directions
Some day you will thank your parents for the life skills they have instilled in you.
Blessings!

Well, the chores aren't going to just do themselves, and since your parents have been working all day, they can't do them all, and since they get paid jack for all that hard work, they can't afford maids and gardners and butlers.

You like to eat, right? Well, cooking dinner is a chore.

You like to eat off of clean dishes? Doing dishes is a chore.

You like to play in the yard? No, well, mowing, and edging, and sweeping, and weeding are all chores anyway.

Ever been walking around and stepped on a piece of broken glass, or slipped on a dust bunny? cleaning up is a chore.

Have you recently been attacked by an angry pulsating blob of shower mold? Someone did a chore to clean that off.

Been attacked by bed bugs, lice, or fleas? Hmm, someone must clean the sheets.

You can still see out the window? Who cleans them?

Don't like doing chores? Fine, just get a job, move out on your own, and TA DA! You'll be doing all your own chores.

i assume you mean why do your parents give you chores to do??
one of the reasons is to give you some work ethic.
another may be so you can learn how to do things around the house
also if you are old enough to do chores you should help around the house, i mean you live there for free so why shouldn't you do things to help your parents

If you are in your parents home you get the same answer as my children. We need the help. Everybody works to keep up OUR home. You'll learn how to respect what your parents do to keep a roof over your head abnd how much work that entails to keep it nice. Everybody does their part-first bedrooms, their bath and SCHOOL is their first jiob. Then other jobs also earn them allowance or extra $$ if they want extra work. You are part of a whole and everyone should respect that and help. Besides, would you want friends to come over and think you live in a pigpen? Then HELP!

So you will learn how to things on your own. Someday you will grow up an go live on your own and mommy won't be there to do your laundry, wash the dishes, take out the trash, make your bed, clean your room, make your dinner and so on. You need to learn to do these things on your own. Your parents give you everything that you need. Now that you are old enough you need to contribute to the upkeep of your family.

Because it will give you some sense when you move out on your own so that mommy and daddy won't have to come and clean up after you . Unless you become very rich and snobby and hire a persaonal housekeeper to do it for you.
