A St. Valentine's Day homophobic lynch mob of more than 200 people in the Kingston, Jamaica suburb of St. Andrew's Parish chased and assaulted three men the mob presumed to be gay and threatened to kill them. The leader of the gay rights organization J-FLAG (Jamaican Forum for Lesbians, All-Sexuals, and Gays) was repeatedly and viciously assaulted by police when he went to the aid of the three alleged homosexuals under attack.

The Caribbean is hardly gay-friendly!
A dear friend of mine (and her lover) were raped and brutally hacked to death on the beach in the Caribbean by homophobic lynch mobs about 15 years ago. Things don't get better.

In Jamaica the people are very very homophobic. Most of the Jamaican women i know didn't come out until they moved here to the states.
