I am getting married the begining of June and one of my bridesmaids just found out that she is pregnant. By my wedding date she will be about 5 months pregnant. She is a rather larger girl, probably about 200 pounds. She bought the dress before she got pregnant and thinks that she will still fit in even though she will be 5 months pregnant. I don't think that she will be able to fit into her size 22 dress that she already bought. Do you think that she will fit into her dress? Should I go ahead and order some extra matching fabric to have the dress altered?

Yes four months along you might have been able to pull it off but certainly not five about four months along is when you start to show and your clothes dont quite fit you the same way of course that varies but you should plan on some alterations. Or maybe have her wear a different style of dress that has more room under the breast. Although your breast do grow as well. So I would say more material.

Sometimes women who are bigger don't show as much or as soon when they are pregnant, I guess because they already have enough extra space for the baby. But fat is squishy and baby is not. Definitely plan on having some extra material, because you never know. She'll probably need at least a little more room by that time.

Oh and if she's a size 22, she's probably more than 200 pounds. I'm 179 and I'm a size 12. Or I was before I got pregnant....

No way will she be the same size. You should definitely get some extra fabric. She may not gain much by then, but it will be some. By 5 months I couldn't fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes anymore and I had only gained about 10 pounds. Better safe than sorry anyway.

Congrats on your wedding!

Heavier women tend to show earlier. Plus, each pregnancy is different. If she didnt show for her first at 5 months, she more likely than not WILL show by then with this one. Or even if this is her first, she might still show.

I would go ahead and do what you need to, to ensure the dress can be altered for the wedding. Its just safe practice no matter what the situation is, pregnant or not.

i would go ahead and plan on having the dress altered and hope that she is not trying to diet so she can fit her dress because that could harm the baby just tell her that at 5 mts pregnant there could be a chance that she gains baby weight and that is ok so she does not feel as if you will be upset or she will feel embarrassed by having her dress altered

since she is already a nice size women.. she probably won't gain too much weight right away. If I was you i would go ahead and order the extra fabric.. just in case.. better be safe then sorry!! Why add any more stress to you ... its your wedding take the precautions needed to make sure everything will turn out great!!

Congrats!!

I have heard that women that are big before pregnancy tend to show alot slower than women that are small. If this is true then you may be lucky enough that you won't have to have the dress altered. Good Luck and Congratulations on your wedding and your bridesmaid having a baby.

I dont think she will fit in her dress, but she may not be too big to fit into it. Each person is so different on weight gain. My brothers girlfriend hid it fromt he family for 4 months and we couldnt even tell she had gained weight and she was still wearing her size 7 pants.

She will most likely not fit into her bridesmaid dress - by 5 months along you begin to show your pregnancy (even if you are overweight)

By the way - do you have a problem with her weight? You seem to mention it over and over again (probably about 200 pounds, size 22 dress).

No, she will not fit her dress. However she seems like she is quiet a bit over wieght and may be able to combat that with some walking and light jogging, while still eating a very balanced meal high in steamed veggies, fruits, meats and grains and she should be taking a multi vitamin for prenancy. These are some things she should of been doing in the first place and she would not already be so heavey. This girl is not looking at reality here and what are you going to do on your wedding day when she cant squeeze into the dress???
