I'm having a problem with my monitor. One day, I turned my computer off, and the Monitor immediately went into "Power save" mode. I did not set my computer to do this, and it took me forever to get it out of this mode. When I was finally able to do so, and was able to get back to my desktop, everything there was huge and blurry. I finally figured out it was the screen resolution, so I went in and tried to change it to a lower resolution. I changed it, and it made the change, but as soon as I did, it went right back to the huge blurry screen. Nothing I do will work and my graphics are all messed up. It just will not stay changed to the lower resolution. I've started the computer in safe mode to change the resolution, and other things, but nothing is working. The computer works just fine, but the graphics are grainy and blurry, and it looks a real mess. Anyone know what could be wrong? Should I buy a new monitor, video/graphics card, or just a new computer entirely?

Try UNINSTALLING the Graphics Driver,,and Re-install it.

Go into CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>System Properties>Device Manager>Hardware

Click on >Display Adapters ...
Then Right Click on Your display adapater/Graphics card

Select Unistall,,,
then Reboot.

It SHOULD auto-detect your Graphics and automatically re-install it.

Hardware Probs wont likely produce the type of faults you're seeing.

It's a control issue,,which is Drivers/Software.

There's a Small possibility you could some sorta worm or spyware,,,but I never heard of one fooling with Graphics like yours is doing.

You Might also check for any possible Driver Update for your video card.
To update is not an actual "FIX",,,but by virtue of updating it would almost certainly straighten out any corruption.

Good Luck with it,,,hope it's nothing serious.

Ok, so you turned your computer off, and the monitor went into power save mode? That is normal. Most monitors have a function such as that, though you may not have noticed because you normally turn the monitor off first.

I may be misunderstanding you on that first part.

The easiest suggestion I have for you is to try a different monitor. Bring the computer over to a friends house and try it out, if it works fine then you probably need a new monitor, if it gives you the same issue, then it is something else that we will need to look into more.
