I earned my BA in history, and decided to go to graduate school for library science. The history MA is pretty worthless, and the ph.D takes at least 10 years (!!!). Plus, the job market for historians is pretty slim. Librarianship was a perfect fit for me, because of my solid liberal arts background and the way I learned to study and research from all those history classes. Good luck!

You can DO things with Masters in accounting, business, nursing, etc. If you are going for an "academic" area...like science or history...you might need a PhD to be really competitive in the job market. I applied for ONE science masters (the rest were PhD programs)...and the director of the program switched me automatically to the PhD program, saying I would be wasting my time and would do better in the PhD program (in Physiology and Neuroscience). I would encourage a PhD, but I am quite biased. :) You should look around the net to see what people do with certain degrees.
But anyways-this is my FAVORITE website to determine how fruitful a degree can be...and it gives different job types as well:

Enjoy!

Unless you want to teach -- History would fall into the "Not so useful" category.
The useful master's degrees are the ones in mor practical fields -- MBA, MS in Engineering, MS in Computer Science, etc.

not very unless you are going on for a phd in the field...education iis a better fit because you can take classes that teach you how to teach history...you could probably get a job in a museum or as an archivist...

i think you should major in what you love doing the most.because what if you major in somethin that is hot right now but in a few years isnt so.then you are going to want to change jobs plus what if you get into somethin you hate.so id stick with somethin you love to do or learn about
