Go Tamora Pierce. Great Books, a few different series to keep you reading. Harry Potters good to, not like Lord of the Rings or anything but really good and fantasy.

Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunners series is pretty good. It's very unconventional when compared to LOTR, but it does have sword fights, dragons, and romance.
Luck in the Shadows
Stalking Darkness
Traitor's Moon
And a new one is forthcoming!!!
She also has another sereis called the Tamir Triad. No dragons, but lots of sword fights and romamce.
The Bone Doll's Twin
Hidden Warrior
The Oracle's Queen

You might enjoy His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik. It's the first in an excellent series, and it's a pretty fast and fun read. The series has also been optioned by Peter Jackson, who filmed Lord of the Rings.

Try Nora Roberts' Circle Trilogy. Three books, Morrigan's Cross, Dance of the Gods, and Valley of Silence. They should be just what you are looking for.
