You're going to need cash for things like cabs, gambling, and tipping. And for anything big you might want to use a credit card so that you don't deplete your cash. I usually use my credit card for my room and all of my food and cash for everything else. Just try take only one card with you and keep both (cash and credit) close to you at all times. Or if necessary, you can keep it in the safe in your hotel room.

Please be aware that if you are heading out to local bars here, many of them are cash only - no credit cards. The bartenders will direct you to a cash machine. If you have a debit card with a Visa logo, that's the best thing since you can use it for both. Pretty much all the bars/restaurants on the Strip take plastic and most restaurants off the Strip take plastic, too. Like I said, if you go to local bars off the Strip (and there are some great ones), its generally cash only - they're also much, much cheaper. If you're gambling at all, you'll need cash.

If I were you I would only carry enough cash for incidentals like a $100 or less. I would use my credit card for everything else. I would do this for 2 reasons. The first would be security. If my credit card is lost or stolen I can replace it and if someone else uses it I have limited liability. Second reason is it will be harder for me to overspend because I could not go over my spending limit. Airline and hotel would have their charges already on the card. I would only bring 1 credit card with me. Have fun but be cautious.

I would say credit is safer however if you plan to gamble you should bring cash. Cash advances are pretty expensive on credit cards.
If you're not planning on hitting the slots or tables I'd bring $100 in cash. $60 in twentys, $20 in singles, and however you wanted to split up the remaining $20.

I would take credit cards for safety reasons. Right now any place that you travel just about every venue takes credit cards. A small amount of cash should also be readily available for things like cab fare.

If you will be gambling, you will want cash for this. I used mostly cash when I was there, for suveniers and most dinners. If you are going somewhere fancier or to a show, use a credit card for those. So I always had cash, but not too much of it.

I would take travelers checks since those can be replaced if lost/stolen. I would also take one credit card with a low credit limit and use it for just in the case of an emergency but if you do decide to use it the limit will hopefully be low enough that it wont hurt you to bad.

I'd be leary of cash. If your purse gets snatched or your room robbed then the money is gone. If you have a credit card and someone takes it, you will have the credit card company on your side.
