Can you say "opponent"? Outside Great Britain Richie Wenton is an unknown commodity, who, thanks to the clout of manger/promoter Frank Warren, is ranked as the WBO # 1 junior featherweight contender.
Richie Wenton has fought only three times in the past two years, and although he won all three fights, none were against opponents you or I would have ever heard of.
A curious side note; the one name opponent on Wenton's resume is the superb world champion and pound-for-pound contestant Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson. Believe it or not, Richie Wenton defeated Mark Johnson in a four round contest held in Belfast back in 1990!
According to "Too Sharp," he was robbed by the hometown judges.
On Holloween night, Richie 'Lion Heart' Wenton gets a once in a lifetime shot at glory as he squares off against Mexico's Marco Antonio Barrera for the WBO junior featherweight crown.
