I've heard that same myth folklore tale.

The myth forklore that I heard was that something from a past life must have happened to a person on that spot where the birthmark is. i.e....stabbed, hung, cut, shot etc.

I have an ' annoying ' birthmark on my neck. It is the size of a nickle coin and looks just like a hickey.

I'm 50, was married 23 yrs., now peacefully divorced 4 yrs. When I was in high school some kids playfully teased me as they thought it was a hickey. When I was married not much mention of it from others as I guess others assumed that my husband put it there.

Since I divorced . . . I get comments on it again...which bothers me as I'm 50, mother to three (14, 17, 20), I'm an upstanding nice woman, dress nice . . . The thought that some think that a woman of my age would go around with a hickey on my neck for all the world to see...that both embarrasses and annoys me. When I remember to...I put some cover up make up on it.

It the past life thing is true . . . wonder what that mark on my neck would have been from? Did someone shoot or stab me in the neck...or smother me to death with kisses leaving a mark behind ? ( Joking )

Oh well...here I am with a birth mark on my neck that looks just like a hickey and I'm a divorced woman of 50. Annoying...yet also have to find the humor in it.

I didn't think it had any meaning until my son was born with a small hole on his neck and a big birthmark on the back of it, it looked like a bullet entrance and exit wound. I looked up books on re-incarnation and found it was true.

If there is a meaning, I would love to know the meaning of my hand-print birthmark on my back.

I heard there is a belief that in you were stabbed in your previous life and in those places you have birthmarks. Sounds ridiculous, I know. Just wanted to put out a different answer besides that they are normal and have no significance. :)

I believe they are simply random collections of over pigmented skin caused by melanin.

If they do have meanings, I would love to know what the birth mark on my leg that is in a perfect shape of south America means.
