I've gotta say Neal Peart from Rush. That guy can make enough noise to replace a whole symphony all by himself.

Probably not what you’re thinking, but pick up any album and try to name another drummer that can play a ten minute song that has many changes like Jazz or classical always with amazing energy and stamina. and without going on some dumb drum solo that has no harmony, like so many drummers do. you know the one that sounds like "look how many and how fast I can hit the drums in 5 minutes". he is the driving force behind most of their music.

No question about it! JOHN BONHAM from Led Zeppelin!!!! Just listen to the half-hour version of Moby Dick on the Led Zeppelin DVD and see what I mean. Anyone who can play drums that long alternating with sticks and bare hands without becoming exhausted is the reason.
