Laptop Dell with processor 233 MHz and RAM 32 MB it would be P1 or P2? and how it's performance would be? very bad or acceptable for web browsing and word processing?

That poor old rig is a probably Pentium classic (P1), but could be a PII. The actual model number would help.

The performance would be poor. If it came with Windows 98, then stick with that. If it came with a word processor, then stick with that. It would be very slow on-line.

If this were a Pentium II, then it is likely that it will take more RAM. Visit http://www.coastmemory and see what they say. If it can take 128MB and you really want to use the OLD DOG, then get some. But don't upgrade the system to any newer Windows version, as it would be wicked slow again.

In general, the poor old thing is reaching the end of it's life. The age of it means that failure is imminent. I wouldn't spend a nickel on it. Save that money for anything new.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

A 233MHz processor is probably going to be a P2 (the P1 only when to about 90MHz).

With only 32MB of RAM, the PC will not be able to run anything better then Windows 98. But should be upgradable to at least 256 if you want XP. (Avoid Windows 2000)

With only 32 mb of RAM, the PC will be slow. You want to get to at least 128mb even if you stay with Win98.

But for Web browsing and Word processing it will be adequate. My main laptop (at home) is a 300mhz Dell with 128mb of RAM and it works fine for those.

If you are looking to purchase this laptop, do not go over $150 for it.

if your going to buy this DONT.
if you already have it sell it to some collector
As for your questions down grade to win 98 and give it more ram. But dont know if you can find ram for such old computers. It'll be ok for word processing if you stick with some old word processor. As for internet a dial-up connection would work on it properly
