Depending on where you're dining, and how much you plan to spend on arts & Crafts, or places of interest.
I'd say 1000 covers you ok. Remember that the dollar really goes a long ways. Have a great time and take lots of pictures!
I hope you know the good points of interest, museums, ruins and so on.

I would agree that your dollars will go a long way there. I have been to Mexico City three times, the first time I was there for 3 weeks and I took $600. That was fine for me, but I was staying with my in-laws, so i didnt have to pay for restaurants or touristy spots (went to only a few of them). Hope you have a blast...I would love to go back and I hope I am going back soon.
