I honestly don't know yet. The reason for this is, I have not studied his proposed platform. There is only one person who has announced so far that I would not vote for and that is Hillary. Since I am an independent I don't vote in primaries, but once the primaries are over and the candidates are set I will take the time to educate myself on the respective candidates and make a decision based on that. What I want out of a President is not a Republican or a Democrat, but rather someone who has the interests of the people at heart. I have always been impressed by his career achievements. First as a prosecutor and then as the mayor of the New York, so he could very easily end up being the guy for me, but the future will tell.

I would vote for Guliani because of the fact he is a man of great reason and intellect. A former democrat who saw the light after being inspired to become Reagan republican, Guliani was a former federal prosecutor who became mayor the largest city in America and showed his true patriotism in the aftermath of 9/11. I am not certain of his views on gay marriage (not to mention the fact that he dressed in drag and marched in the gay pride parade). He would be able to carry NY over Clinton and is a moderate who believes in fiscal conservatism. The only thing he needs to do is embrace the 2nd amendment and he has said that he would not impose NYC gun laws on the entire country

We could do a lot worse than Rudy!
I don't think the social conservatives will warm up to him.
I'D vote for him, though. I don't see a perfect choice.
PS He spoke at my school once, about 20 years ago, when he was a prosecutor. I can't remember if we actually met - I guess that means we didn't. :)
I lived in New York City - a city with a higher population than many of our states! - for ten years. The job he did cleaning it up is simply unbelievable! I do think we need a roll-up the sleeves, get to work kind of leader. He is combative, not charismatic, but he might be the right man for tough times. And he can string two sentences together - I support Bush, but it would be nice to have an articuate person as president again.
It will be interesting to see how he is received across the country, and whether he can navigate the primaries without abandoning his principles.

Primaries, probably not, in the genral election against Hillary, Obama, or Edwards, yes. To the person who said the dems hope he wins the nomination. That is wrong, he is probably the one person they don't want winning. As much as many right wingers don't like his stance on gun control and abortion, they would still vote for him over Hillary or Obama, but he is liberal enough to get those middle of the road dems. Remember he was elected twice as a republican in New York City when they are very, very liberal, and always vote democratic. Dems like him on social issues, and conservatives like him on economic and crime issues. He takes whats most important to each side. Not a smart thing to do in the primary, but a hard to stop if he gets the nomination.

People who don't pay attention or are sick of the rest of them. RG was a mayor of a big city during a horrendous event and did exactly what any big city mayor would be expected to do. Does that make him Presidential material? He has no federal experience at all? Does that make him Presidential material?
He may be lucky to get Veep. Actually the Republicans would be smart to run McCain as President and Romney as Veep. That way they cand have at least a miniscule chance of winning. Otherwise I don't see a victory for the GOP.

It depends on who the candidate for the Dems was. If it was Hillary or Obama and Rudy had the Republican nomination I would absolutely vote for Rudy. Of course he wouldn't be my first choice due to his views on abortion and gun control.

I would not. Even though he is a republican, his views are to liberal on things like, gun-control, abortion, etc... I would vote for McCain. But if it came down to a race between Hillary and Giuliani, then I would vote for him.
