Just where are you located? Do you have your own telephone land line? If you have your own telephone ( not mobile !!!) in your house all you need is to buy an internet card provided by those internet servers. You can buy this at any internet cafe from their suppliers of card games and internet cards. Or you could go and apply to local server. However, living in a rural area proves to be a disadvantage to get a local server like TRI-ISYS because your telephone company will be charging you based on a long distance call and not local connections. So the best that you could do is to buy INTERNET cards with specified number of hours you could log online. There are internet cards that offer free surf during midnight but charges begin as soon as you go online and stops midnight and resume billing the remaining time slot at 8 am...while you are online..so you better save whatever work you might do because the server cuts internet connection without warning upon consumption of the card hour.

This is the best option you can have being in a rural ...without cable or DSL ; provided you have a local land line of your own.
Instructions are provided how to use the internet cards.
Now just remember. " THERE ARE INTERNET CARDS USED EXCLUSIVELY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS." So I suggest for you to read first the scope of its area of responsibility. Buy only the internet card that specifically mention your rural area or the boundary wherein you are included..meaning your Provincial town proper .
Don't go buying just any cards because you will be wasting your money and time in doing so without reading the back part of the internet card indicating the local area where it is applicable. Better yet ask the seller or demand one that covers your area..they know how to look.

Until then...happy surfing!

About the only 2 choices for rural homes would be either a wireless solution from a local Wireless phone company or a satellite connection.

Both run a little bit higher in price than cable or dsl and offer much lower speeds than cable, but that's all that is available.
Satellite will need a clear view of the sky, and wireless will usually require a clear view of a wireless tower.

Don't know anything about WIMAX.
I use a Satellite provider: Wildblue.net and am very happy with the service.
My connection speed is comparable to broadband on downloads. The upload speed is better than telephone modem connection but slower than broadband.
I pay $49.95/month, and the installation/equipment was free. If you call them or check out their website soon, they might still have the free installation promotion going on.

They probably still offer ISDN, which is a little better than dial up - if you go with dual-channel ISDN it can get about 128K up/down, but it requires you to have two phone lines, both of which are busy while you are online.

Single channel ISDN is around 64K, and only uses one phone line, but ties it up as well.

Wireless (cell) internet is coming up in the world, but probably too expensive for normal users. You might look and see if any satellite providers offer internet for reasonable prices.

Look into satellite internet from Hughes. According to the commercials, all you need is a clear view of the southern sky.
