although slavery in the US is at an end. and has been for a long time. Segregation is over but the wounds of it still hurt. though their is still bigotry and racial hatred coming from both sides this also seems to lessen with each generation. But now a new "trouble" is happening and has gained momentum these past 10 - 20 years. And its the African American who is bringing it on to themselves. Its called self victimization. The idea that i wont be able to get ahead because im black and the man keeps me down, without even tring for better. This is becomming more and more clear with each generation. Its much easier to play the victim, and some political leaders are actually helping by playing the "race card", its difficult to work hard and fight for everything you do that will give you a more meaningful life and a better life for your children. Its easy to accept the handouts. But its those handouts that enslave you like in no other time in history. Thoughts?

how about reading my entire question before attacking semper.

your proof to my pudding so to speak. You did with your life EXACTLY what i believe anyone can do no matter what their background or color. Gratz. Im talking about those that use being Black as an excuse for subservience to the system. they are making slaves of themselves and victimize themselves in the process

thank you. finally, someone pointed this out. I think the only way to solve this problem is by breaking the visual image of black people in other peoples mind. Young black people look up to the drug dealers and gangsters and think it is cool to look and do what they do. ut it's not. And they are going to stay the way that they are if they don't realize what they are getting themselves into.

I meant a substantial majority of African-American people in the USA. No offense to anyone.

Blacks need to save themselves; it is the American way. At this point in time, blacks have many opportunities to succeed and have a good life. There are many social institutions that are a barrier to success. They do not promote self reliance. Another barrier is the family. The family structure is falling apart. Personal responsibility for ones actions is lacking in this current culture. Instead of singing the words of the uplifting black national anthem, the new anthem can be found in the violent lyrics of gangster rap. One can not be uplifted or inspired to do good, listing to gangster rap. One only becomes self-serving and depressed. The times have changes rapidly. Technology, media, and reality TV have shown that one does not have to work hard to become famous. Instead of going to college, people are looking for their big break. People think that they can act any way they like and expect people to respect them just because. Instead of earning respect by having a good character, they will just bully their way to respect. Parents need to get back to the home and start disciplining, monitoring, and parenting their children before it is too late.

Yes, there is much truth in what you write here. Frequently, when there is some small incident, the Rev. Jackson and Sharpton are johnny on the spot pulling that race card. I think they often do far more harm than good. If an armed white teen is shot and killed by a police officer, it makes the news. Period. But if that armed teen is black, the rallies and protests and all types of howling and finger pointing begins instantly and is carried on all major news channels.

Just like the poor whites who blame the fact they can't get jobs on Affirmative Action. Self-victimization isn't a race thing, it's an economic issue.

My thoughts-I'm not the keeper of the black race and can only be accountable for myself. If someone wants to be pitiful, I'm not going to worry myself about it.

between the reasons why i would not permit my cat run loose exterior. the ingredient is, cats of all colorings can and are tortured twelve months around. Black cats possibly heavily isn't the sole aims on Halloween. One warning however... do no longer exhibit a stray cat on your very own cats. you plenty times don't be responsive to what the stray has in terms of illnesses. i could fairly permit the strays exterior and keep an eye fixed out for foul play. possibly if human beings could easily enhance their little ones precise, we would not have this undertaking.

Hello,
What your saying could be all true but are we to quick to find hate?
If so my friend then it will be long time before we can find love.
For all of us and that comes from way deep down inside.
The heart.
Isn't to bad that we all can't all just work together. What a thought that would be.
Haven't we all seen enough blood shed that history has to keep repeating it's self, over, over again.

Just my thought, Take care

Well, everyone can do better, and I definitely think we can do better. Yes we've had a tough history and yes there is racism, but too many (not all) of us hide behind that and pretend there's no way for us to make decent lives for ourselves because of it even when we see people coming over here from laos, angola, kazakhstan or wherever and making good lives for themselves even though they have to learn a new language and culture. Our "leaders" don't help much, they want as many of us as possible to think there's no hope so we'll be stuck depending on them. (i.e. jesse jackson)

In some ways you have a very good point. But in other ways you are wrong. Ask any African-American male how many times he has been stopped by the police and his car search? Now don't get me wrong, if there is a good reason by all means do so. But if you hand them your drivers licenses, insurance card and registration, and there is no sign of drugs or alcohol (smell or sight) then why do they still ask them to step outside the car, pat them down, and ask, is it ok to search your vehicle??

Lets talk about the Black men who have been wrongfully imprisoned. How much time is given to them to rehabilitate their lives to society? When a white man (until this day) is given a better opportunity at landing a job, a quality job, than the Black man?

My dad worked for us steel for 30 something odd years. He was one of the ones who died in less than 4 years of his retirement from the excelerated form of cancer that killed many of them. The steel mill took my mother pension and when they did the payments for most of the mens wives, my mother was told she was too late to get in on the payment.

And lets ask Mr. Meeks who is a very large political leader in IL how did he feel when the police personnel treated him with so much disrespect; which is what the average Black male goes through on a daily.

Lets look at the public school system. In a predominately or all white neighborhood the school systems are well equipped with things the children need to excell. I go into schools all over the state and there is a very big difference in their schools and our neighborhood public schools. Im not talking about the schools that our upper class Blacks send their children to, because trust me, they are going to make sure that the little poor Black kids can't get in them. Which is not White America's fault, it is the snobs of the Black race who also have a big part in this situation. Trust me I've met a few or two.

I remember one time when I was looking for an apartment about 16 years ago. I was very worried because I really didn't know much about renting, I had lived in a house most of my life. I went to a real estate agency and put in an application and waited for them to call me. I remember my Mom asking me, was the man White or Black? When I told her he was White she said, "don't worry, mr. charlie will take care of you. I looked at my mother and said, "What the hell does she mean?" I was kind of p.o'd so I went and found a Black agency to see if she was right. The sad part was that she was right.

My mother grow up on a plantation in the south that was ran by rich Blacks who treated them poorly because they were the "dark" kids. She was beat by her father because she wanted to go to school and not to the field to work. (The rich Blacks were his people.) So yes, some parts of what you are saying is true but not all.

Last but not least, but the hard core truth, I have White associates and Black friends. It is more likely that my White associate will have my best interest that the Blacks. Case and point, I write poetry, my people (Black) have tried to steal it from me to make a profit or they will down play it so that I won't make anything of it. My White associates have tried to point me to the right direction so I can get it off the ground.???? We believe the story is to be sold not told.

Therefore, most of our down fall is ours, but in the mist of it all, there is still the undercurrent that plays a very, very, big part.

I close now, don't shot the messager. I only tell you what I see. And if there are any typo's and grammer errors please excuse me, I wasn't one of the ones who went in the good neighborhood schools. My parents (mom and dad) were laborers so they didn't qualify for the good schools with the rich Blacks. HERE IT IS....White people you are not completely off the hook. Go answer the question about Plano Texas and then tell me racism is over Peace.

Of course there are blacks who put themselves in their situation, or refuse to get themselves out of the situation they're in without government assistance. Let's help them by NOT helping them. Be more strict with welfare and such. If a ho comes in with a $200.00 weave, Baby Phat, and Timberlands, do not grant her a damn thing. If she can afford to make herself look like a moron, she can damn well afford to feed her children.

That'd be a good start.
