My cycle is normal (30 days) and I am feeling the premunsural syndrome from past one week but still did not get my periods. Can any one answer my question? Thanks in advance

Antibiotics can mess with your hormones a bit (which is why so many people automatically mention birth control), but are unlikely to cause you to have a delayed cycle. Being ill can make your system kind of go into "pause" until you feel better. Not everyone does this, and even people who notice this don't always see it happen when they get sick.

Since you are several days late for your period (4 as of today?), I'd recommend you get a home pregnancy test and see for sure. If you weren't planning on getting pregnant (or even if you were), it may be quite a lifestyle adjustment for you to be pregnant. :)

If the test comes back negative, consider giving yourself more time (about as long as you were ill), and if you haven't seen your period yet, try another test. If that one is negative and you are concerned about yourself, check in with your doctor about the delayed period.

Best of Luck to you!

Hi. I dont think antibiotics will change your period. I know they have never affected mine.
I am now 10 weeks pregnant, and I was convinced that I wasnt at first because I had "premenstrual" symptoms, too. Turns out, theyre pretty much the same as early pregnancy symptoms. I suggest taking an early test, just to be sure you get the best measurement. Good luck!!

Stress and illness can disrupt your normal menstrual cycle, causing delays in ovulation and menstruation. If you were sick and taking antibiotics, it's possible that your period is going to be a little late, but it's also possible that you might be pregnant, if you were having sex without using contraception, or without using a back up method of contraception with the pill while you were on antibiotics.

Antibiotics shouldn't, however, the sickness does. Why were you taking them? I am always late when I am sick {but, a year ago I was on antibiotics - strep throat - then I didn't get my period and turned out I was pregnant, I didn't know that while you are on antibiotics your birth control pills don't work}. But I don't get while all these people think you are on birth control and freaked out since you didn't say such a thing????

If you had unprotected sex then its a possiblity...If using birth control (the pill) antibiotics decrease the effectiveness of them so you should always use a backup form of birth control...Being sick can also delay a period but if you are unsure take a HPT...Good Luck!
