I think too many to count. Most of businesses rely heavily on selling agents and these are the people who are employed not only in the shops to sell, but also in door to door business promotion. Hence, it is impossible to put a figure. I would say, two third of all people associated with business of any kind are engaged in selling the products or services.

Mind you, even the advertising industry is engaged in the selling category.
