My idea is that there is another parallel world which is exactly like ours except it lives out the other decision that we left behind...

For example, there's decision A and B. If we say that you picked A, then in the other world, it lives out decision B as if it actually was.

I need something interesting to happen!

You do realise that this would lead to an infinite number of separate universes, right? Because, you COULD make choice A, B, A, A, A, B, A OR A, B, A, A, A, B, B, OR, A, B, B, A, A, B, A, OR, and on and on forever...

Plus this was handled in Michael Crichton's Timeline, so it's not exactly the most original thing.

Sorry... good luck!

That's a great idea! It's all about the paths we chose and the road not taken. Some ideas would be:

- that nice girl (or guy) that the character was dating that he left behind for the hottie - who outgrew the hotness factor and ran around while the nice girl stayed nice and sweet and made for a wonderful life in the "other" world.

- seeing your buddy hitchhiking and you didn't pick him up. He's killed by a maniac in one world, etc.

- getting really mad at your friend for never growing up and being the constant party animal. In one world he ends up a successful lawyer, while in the other world you laughed and ignored him and he dies an alcoholic's death alone and unloved.

So many avenues you could explore! Good luck, my friend!
