Thanks!
Please only serious responses.

Talk your options over with your Dr. But a really good non hormonal birthcontrol that is permanat up to 5 years are IUD's they hve very little side effects and will not affect your mood. You could also look into a diapgram or cervical cap these have gone by the way side recently because they require work on your part with each session of intercourse.
There are multiple pills you can take that are of the low dose form that is safe for you and baby.
You can always opt for just condoms or contraceptive foam al well. I know its alot to think about but try doing some research before friday so you will be educated about the options your Dr. offers you and you can ask questions about the types you are interested in.
NO breastfeeding alone will not prevent pregnancy this is an old wives tale. I am sure you will hear this before it's all said and done.

The only safe method is an IUD (IntaUterine Device. Two types are available in the US: a progesterone impregnated IUD (Progestasert®) and a copper T-shaped IUD (ParaGuard®). The IUD may prevent pregnancy by interfering with: sperm movement (the ability of the sperm to fertilize the egg) or implantation (nesting of a fertilized egg into the lining of the uterus). (Now the most widely used method of reversible birth control in the world.) A third type LNgIUD contains a hormone called levonorgestrel. The one i thioink that would be best for you in the T shaped IUD because there is no hormones and it has worked well for alot of people i know. THe effectiveness of 2 of them is
Copper-T IUD - 99%
Progesterone IUD - 97%
they can last anywhere from 5 years to ten years. It depends on which one you want. If you want a baby before then get a 5 year and they can take it out midway fo 2 1/2 years this is the most effective way and will help you alot.

La Leche League does not recommend any birth control pill as "safe" for a nursing mother. Even the mini-pill can cause a decrease in milk production. If you are nursing on demand-no bottles, pacifiers, or other food-your chances of getting pregnant in the first six months are around 2%. I personally went 14 months without a period after my breastfed daughter was born. We used condoms just to be safe.

I have a ParaGard copper IUD. I love it. It's non-hormonal, so it won't make your emotions wacky, and if you do decide you want to have anothe child in the future, it's very easily removed and there's no "waiting period" to become fertile again like there is with most hormonal forms of birth control (the pill, the patch, the shot, etc.). It's good for 10 years, there's no maintenance involved, no pills to remember to take every day, it's over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy, and best of all, it allows for complete sponteneity with your hubby. :D The only drawbacks is that it can cause heavier than normal cramping and bleeding during your periods. This was true in my case, but only for the first two cycles. Now my periods are back to normal. I've had mine for nearly two years, and I love it. No babies and no problems! There are a few side effects, and you can read more about them at http://www.paragard.com They're rare though. If you're truly interested, your doctor can fill you in more on Friday. Good luck!

Honestly...I passed on the birthcontrol...I figured...anything I'm taking...my baby is taking...and while you're breastfeeding..you're already so hormonally wacked out ...the last thing I wanted to do is throw MORE hormones into the mix.

We just use condoms...I figure it's the safest thing for baby. At least for now.

IF you must go on some type of birth control...I would just make sure it's a low dose pill or an IUD...

Any non hormonal birth control. If you want the pill you'll have to use the mioni pill. It is not as effective as "the pill" and must be taken at the same time each day.

check out http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/birth-control/BI99999/PAGE=BI00005 to learn a little about the different types of birth control available.

Besides using condoms, there are some birth control pills that are safe for nursing mothers. It is recommended to not use pills with estrogen, as these can reduce your milk production. There are pills that use only progestin. I'm sure if you contact your OB-GYN doctor they would prescribe something safe for you.
