Maybe someone should tell the guys they can still wear regular shorts OVER the spandex. And yes women can do it because tight is sexy...assuming they have the body for it anyway.
Maybe we should allow an application process to allow certain people to wear spandex and certain people to be prohibited from it at all times.

If I am just riding down the street or something I don't put on the spandex, but for extended rides (I usually do 20-30 miles) then having the extra padding that the shorts give is a massive bonus.
Not to mention that it is form fitting, so you don't have to worry about it flapping around in the wind, or getting caught in any moving parts.
I had a redneck guy shout from a car once 'nice shorts baby' (to which I replied 'thanks sweetie' and rode on).

It makes them more aerodynamic...less resistance to the wind. Usually the long distance racers will wear them and yes women wear them too. So as with anything else, everyone else who rides a bike want the "professional" look to so they will sport the look for the sake of sporting it.
Better than those loose shorts flapping around and the boys showing don't you think? LOL

No, it is about friction. With tighter clothing there is less friction to hold them back. It allows them to go faster. It's all about the aerodynamics.

I think it is so gross. Its less acceptable for men because first, it shows everything, gross, and they look gay. Women just look sexy. No I am not gay!

its not ok for woman either its like a bio dome in those and I believe yeast grows at its best in a biodome
