I currently have a good "paying" job...I make a little over $100K per year. I was recently offered another job that pays about 20% more. However, my hearts desire to own my own business.....it is just that I am not sure what type of business to get into. Franchise, contracting, security comany...the list of possibilities goes on. What should I do?

If you are making over 100k a year, you must have some experience in the field you are working in. That would probably be your best bet as far as starting your own business. If you still arent sure what kind of business you are looking to start, take the higher paying position, continue to build your working capital until you figure out what it is you want to do, and then you should have enough money to get started. Also, best way to network is to have a job, so either keep the one you got or take the other. it always helps to know people. I dont rally know what you do, but most consultants receive good margins and enjoy flexible hours.

ok well...starting your own business sounds like a great idea but there are a lot of things to consider before taking that step........the number one being have an idea of where you want to go what exactly you want to do for your own business, you need a business plan, a good location, have to know your target market, have the capital to actually make the start as well as to cover you while your business gets off the ground.........I would suggest looking into different franchises in fields that interest you, approach them get the information, consider options other than franchise do the math on those as well..then sit down and compare and select your best option..........all the while continuing working earning money while you are getting the self employed "wheels" in motion..........and if you think this new job offer is something you would like then go for it.......starting a new business takes money...and with a 20% increase in salary that will only bring you one step closer to your dream......
