In reality if a person was under water that long they would not have been able to bring them back.True or not. Also if it was another patient not a doctor they would have not gone through so much to bring them back.I just did'nt like that episode did you?

Yes, if someone had been underwater that long, they probably would have died. But this wasn't real life, it was a TV show, AND it was sweeps week. So it was definitely for dramatic effect, and I think for the characters it taught them the seriousness of life or death. It taught Meredith to see how instead of living life, she's always complaining and sad, and she should be happy just to be alive! But you're right, I don't know if they would have gone through so much to bring someone back, BUT they all cared about her, so that may have made them do more. I liked it, because she didn't die, but it wasn't my favorite episode. That would be the McSteamy towel scene episode!

i don't watch the show but i heard about it on VH1's best week ever and it was ridiculous because all the doctors just dropped what they were doing. that wouldn't happen in a real hospital. secondly, i agree that if a person was under water that long they would be dead but its about ratings. they couldn't let the main character die now could they?

I didn't think it was very realistic medically but I thought the whole episode was really cool. It was a way of getting rid of her obnoxious Mother who was a little bit nice to her in death. Anyway, since her character narrates the show it was obvious she wasn't going to die and they would have had to change the name to Izzy's Anatomy or something. I liked it. I especially liked the part where the dead Denny "walked" by Izzy and you could tell she "felt him". I used a half of box of kleenex on that episode!

I agree...it was kinda unrealistic...but it's tv what do you expect. Well they were going to let her go but there were personal stuff like the chief loved mer's mom so he didn't want her to die and of course der...even though he wasn't there he wanted to do anything to try to bring her back. And of course it's all the doctors they didn't want her to die cuz she was also a doc. And of course they can't kill her of the show..The show is about her....Grey's Anatomy. Ya me and my roomies were watchig it and one of them didnt like mer so she wanted her to die....but you cant it's Grey's Anatomy....her show...all about her...

Yes, she is so annoying and whiny .. and yes again, completely unrealistic!

I posted a similiar question and someone said maybe now she won't be so whiny when she returns after seeing her life flash before her.... we can only HOPE!
