i should be getting a gecko soon, but i dont know how to care for it. I dont know the right food to get it,or the cage and accesories. can you help me?

Our son has a Leopard Gecko. As far as lizards go, this would probably be in the top 2.
If you are not getting a Leopard Gecko... most of this will still apply. However, other geckos may not be able to be handled quite as much.
Leopard Geckos are nocturnal, so there is no real need for any special lights. Also, they don't require a large cage or enclosure that some larger lizards may need. I would recommend a 10-20 gallon tank with a heat pad applied to the bottom of one side of the tank. Also, supply it with a hiding place, water and a dish for food... I feed mine only mealworms (use the smaller "softer mealworms). Or you could feed it crickets.
They make a "turf" that is good for lizards. Put that in there and use a plain old paper towel on the side of the cage opposite of the hiding area and food. It will relieve itself on the towel (Mine goes in the same little spot EVERY time).
Do a search on Leopard Geckos... there is a TON of info out there.... as with other types of geckos

Lizards are not as easy to care for as some would have you think. You'll need a tank with good natural spectrum lighting, a warming stone, a diet with the appropriate nutrients. You really must read and read and ask all the questions you can BEFORE bringing your pet home.
Google Geckos As Pets and see if you can find some lists and other places to learn more about them before bringing him home.

u mite wnna say wat it is and if u are geeting a leopard gekco then u neeed a 10 gallon cage ,feed it crikets get him or her a low bowl there blind so they need a shllow low bowl get a fake plant just a lil 1 and get a log there lil logs and there cut in to or somtin then add a lil more stuff if u want and u wont know if its a boy or a girl until its 1 year old and my leopard gekco is named oscar oh ya and u need a carpet DONT GET SAND!they will digest it in die and u need a floresnite light and a bright lite with a special bulb if u need and they grow up to 1 inches and if u need anymore help just talk to ur local pet store thell get u the supp,lies and answer ur questions.oh ya get sad wen there adults wen there babys get carpet
