Good question. It seems everyone else can have their own little groups but we, as whites, have to be tolerant. I am just as proud to be white as someone is to be black. I cannot help what my ancestors did but I can do the things I think are right. I thought that the US was founded on freedom for all people and not just minorities.

I think it's because non-whites already assume that all white people are proud to be white anyway. There is probably a stereo-type with a white person proclaiming to be proud thanks to the white hate groups that have been most vocal in their pride of being white. I am white, but I would like to feel more pride in being an American, where the ideals are supposed to be pride for all races. No one can help what race they were born, but I wish that no matter what ethnic background you came from, if you were born and raised or became a legal citizen of the U.S., that you should feel pride for that.

the project is that ninety% that talk approximately being proud to be white are utilising it as a cloak for racism. the version is that once a dominant subculture expresses 'satisfaction' it many times is completed so in a chauvinistic and dominating way, while wherre a minority or oppressed subculture expresses 'satisfaction' that's generall accomplished to attempt and bring up and reclaim a feeling of esteem. dominant cultures do no longer could desire to reclaim this esteem, as they're dominant already. as an occasion, the Irish in the process the nineteenth century have been a shattered demoralised human beings, after suffering famine, insurrection, emigration, destruction of their subculture and so on. on the top of the nineteenth century, you had the gaelic revival that attempted to repair satisfaction and get the irish walking tall back. those that talk approximately 'white' satisfaction basically approximately constantly do it from an argument that being 'white' is by some skill below seige, and constantly say, 'i'm no longer racist, basically am happy with being white' that's usually racist code for 'i'm in contact that those upity minorities are eroding the privilaged place whites have had in western society' Race is all a social build anyhow. interior the nineteenth century the irish does no longer have been seen as white, as an occasion.

Race is the card many people play when it suits their needs.
Examples:
He is in jail because he was (insert race)...not because of the store he robbed or drugs he sold.
I didn't get the job because I was (...), not because I am unqualified or uneducated.
I am uneducated because I am (...), not because I didn't do well enough in school to go to college.
Many minorities have cornered the market on using their race as a basis to further their agenda. Creating that type of identity brings focus to there overall goal, and often detracts attention away from some of the reasons their goals can not be achieved. Having the racial majority attempt to refocus it's own members attention to their own racial pride can be detrimental. Saying that people of all races have problems eliminates the excuses the many give as to why problems exist. i.e., my examples.
Basically, stating you have white pride is an ultimate threat to the doorways and giveaways that the affirmative action campaign has given.

White's are supposedly the majority, so we give up our rights to anything. You ask a minority and they will tell you the whites do have special holidays just for them....ie: Presidents Day, Memorial Day etc. But from what I remember, ALL people get the same holidays off at work, not ust the ones for their own nationality/race.
I think there is way too much reverse discrimination!

I'm white and "white pride" would mean absolutely nothing to me.
It shouldn't be racist to have it though, but a lot of extremists have hijacked terms associated with that idea.

Racism only seems to work one way with the modern media. It's surprising a people so hurt by racist hatred would turn to it as a salvation over and over.

Its a question I would like to know the answer to myself. My daughter asked me about that last year during this time and I couldn't explain it then either. I believe, that is what is one of the biggest factors in continuing racism today.

It's not politically correct. however there should be no need to have any (insert racial/cultural affiliation) pride. this is America, and as a country that prides itself as a melting pot of cultures and races we should just embrace that we are Americans... but then that is theoretically of course, it's too bad it makes sense. But i guess Americans don't have common sense.
