Your breasts don't automatically stop making milk just because you aren't nursing. It can take some time for those hormones to "shut off." I was still producing milk up to two months after my son was weaned. You might want to consider pumping just a little each day to ease the pain and then wean yourself from that a little at a time. You might also consider talking to your doctor. I know my mom never nursed us and she said there's some kind of pill they can give you to make your breasts stop making milk faster. Good luck.

I don't know how your using the cabbage leaf now but I took the whole leaf and put it right inside my bra. I was told to cut a hole out for the nipple for the milk to escape. I had to wear the cabbage for a full week for my milk to dry up. The cabbage was the only thing that took that pain away. If the cabbage isn't working try pumping the breast just enough to relieve the pressure but not to stimulate more milk production. Good luck, i remember that being the worst pain of my whole breast feeding experience.

I had horrible pain when I stopped breastfeeding! It just takes time though. I tried the cabbage leaves for a few days, but it was kind of a pain. You have to make sure that you change them very regularly for them to work. Change them as soon as they start to wilt (probably around an hour or so). Also, place them all around and under your entire breast, except for the nipple.

Be sure that when you take a shower not to let the water spray down on on your breasts (it will stimulate them to make more milk). Resist the urge to pump or anything...I couldn't resist I think one or two times, which I shouldn't have because it just made it worse. All I can tell you is to just hang in there...I know it is painful!

Good luck!

There is no magical way to stop milk flow, just time. In the meantime you want to stay as comfortable as possible. The key is to remain engorged, but not too engorged. The engorgement process actually triggers hormones to weaken milk production. Too engorged can lead to infections, like mastitis. But, of course, if you rid too much milk, you will reproduce milk. You should pump every 4-6 hours for 5 minutes. Wear a tight bra and use the cabbage leaves in the bra (or use an ice pack). Good luck!

Lay them in your bra and change them when they get warm, about 1 hour I believe. You can also drink sage tea. It is suppose to help dry up milk. It takes about a week some times more for your milk to dry up. Also, don't take hot showers on your breast-it will cause milk let down and make your body start to make more milk.

You're not supposed to just stop. Its called "weaning" and its a slow process.

If you really want to wean her, you would want to start by replacing one nursing session with a bottle for a few days, and then another and another... Your body will adjust to the decreased need that way.

It will take a while to accomplish this early, your body is not set to stop nursing so soon.

Right now youre risking mastasis.

It's completely normal, it's going to get worse before it gets better. But just stay strong, remember it's the healthiest thing for your baby! It will stop hurting in another week or two, then you'll be just fine! Good luck!

It will take some time for you breasts to stop producing milk. In the meantime hand express just enough to make you comfortable and to prevent infections. Also DO NOT bind your breasts as this is very dangerous and can lead to a very nasty infection.

It's going to take a few weeks for your milk to stop producing, and your body is going to have to absorb what you are producting now that you aren't nursing. Hang in there.
