Some of the childish replies left aside, I would say just don't change anything. That, honestly, is the best thing to do. If you're his friend, continue to be so. If he has not hit on you up to this point, don't worry he won't do so. Besides, gay men aren't crazy, and, contrary to popular belief, don't chase after every guy they see!

Why should you react at all. He came out, not you. If he was a cool guy before, what is really different now. Before he came out he did not hit on you so now that he is out does that mean he will. I don't think so. He is exactly the same person you knew before and he will not attack and ra&pe you in the shower. And - he cannot turn you gay. If you think he can, then you probably are.

Consider the following before reacting:
How do you feel towards the person?
What impression would you want to make as a person and during the contact?
What kind of relationship would you want to build on in the future?

If he's cool, the don't react at all. He's still the same guy, you just know a little more about him now.

If you think he's a cool guy surely his orientation shouldn't make a difference.
Maybe congratulate him and go out for a beer?

You should react normally.
If you think homosexuality is wrong, just don't bring it up when you're around him.
Just treat him as you always did.

Just continue to treat him the way you always have. It's just a sexual preference, no big deal....it doesn't change the person he is.
