I have cut my thumb on a tape gun..it made 4 holes in my vein..it seems as if it is starting to heal but yesterday my thumb started to feel numb and got red all around the wound. SHould I worry. It does not feel numb now..it felt numb for about an hour, but it is now Monday and it is still red around the wound and is sore on the wound. What do I do?

Well, it sounds like you are in the early stages of post tramatic gangreen postage stamp.. it might be a good idea to soak it in a solution of salt water, bacon grease, a ccouple altoids, and toss in a 9 volt battery. Rub a potato with a string and drag it allong your cut...

you need to keep it clean and dry and put neosporin or some other type of antibiotic ointment on it. If it doesn't improve after a couple days you may need to take antibiotics by mouth, sometimes wounds become red around the edges as they heal. watch for red streaks or any drainage.

It sounds like it's got infected. Go to a Doc and get some antibiotics. It'll be fine in a few days.

Redness and swelling accompanied by pain are usually signs of infection. If you haven't had a doctor look at it, I would strongly suggest that you do that as soon as possible.

You have an infection, and possibly blood poisoning. You need to go to the doctor and get antibiotics.
