I would like to do it myself or have find somewhere cheap. I want it to last "forever" but do not have alot of $$$$$$ to spend.

Nice post and certainly it should remain a lifetime experience.

Frames with glass and mat are available pretty reasonably. The issue is to keep the Print OFF the glass/plexi, and look when buying for NON acidic substances used to back up and mat the painting.

No real offense, and as I said CHEAP is possible, but if this is to be an "ICON" spend a couple bucks to do it right.

1. Try using a UV protected glass or plastic frame.

2. Try placing an acid-free frame matte between the water-color painting and the glass of your frame.

If you can't find a reasonably priced UV protected glass or plastic frame, its still a good practice to use an acid-free matte in order to avoid pressing the water color painting directly onto the glass of your frame.

For a watercolor on paper, you can use a photo frame. The glass will protect the picture. Try to find one close to the size of your picture. If you need to, get a larger photo frame, and a mat (acid free board) that you can trim to frame the image and make it fit.
