In the end contact lenses are about the same price as glasses.

They are an opportunity to show how responsible you can be.

Easier for you to do more activities with contacts

You can wear sunglasses with contacts.

Now they have contacts that you can sleep in and that are safer.

Its cheaper than lasik surgery.

Boost your self confidence.

You could ask for them as a gift or you could make some kind of bargain by improving your grades or something.

I have contacts and most of the time they are comfortable, but a they can also be very annoying. You need to be very responsible with them. Have your parents talk to your eye doctor about it because they may be more convincing.

Good luck!

i think it's good to have contacts, for personal reasons - like self esteem, they are actually better then glasses. And it's the question of, can u wear them. U might not be able to, u have to have a visit to optometrist to see, how they fit, and if they are comfortable. I'm telling you, lenses are prevalent over glasses. Not even talking about in sports and other activities. They are new lenses coming out almost each year. I have Acuvue Oasys right now, can't even feel them.

If the only reason you want contacts is for cosmetic reasons, then tell them that. But do it maturely. Most health insurances make allowances for contacts. As long as you don't need mega expensive ones, contacts are no more expensive than glasses. But you can't go to them sounding like a nutty teenager, do it like a mature person.
I was about your age when I first got contacts. I got them because I was really active in sports and glasses got in the way.

well tell them that the safety issue of wearing glasses as opposed to wearing contact lens (if you're active ie: sports...) maybe if you have a part time job you can say you'll contribute towards the expense ie: you'll buy the lens cleaner and stuff.. they supply the contact lens... they're not that hard to use and maybe that's what your parents are concerned about - you should let them also know that you'll be responsible with them - by that I mean you'll be sure not to wear them sleeping and cleaning them every night.... lastly get your ophthalmologists opinion.. if he/she says that you can wear them - maybe that will persuade your parents.
