if you are talking about the wind's source, then it is air pressure

The sun warms the earth in a given area. The air then warms and begins to rise. The rising air is replaced by the surrounding air. The movement of that air is called wind. At night ,the earth holds the warmth longer so the air over water rushes to replace the rising air over the land. Some parts of the land hold the warmth of the sun longer than other parts so again you have air movement at night.

In large part, the "wind" (which is simply air rushing from an area of higher pressure to an area of lower pressure) is a consequence of the rotation of the earth. The basic cause is friction between the planet and the air, and between the air and the upper atmosphere.

Local differences in temperature cause differences in air pressure. Air flows due to this differential. The more significant the differential the greater the wind speed.

The difference between pressure of warm and cold air. warm air is lighter than cold and changes the position with cold air and this movement cause the wind to form.
