I see many posts screaming of man's involvement in Global Warming. . ... And I see many posts screaming that a single volcano eruption causes more Global Warming than mankind ever could . Isn't this the defining difference in our views ?
Now if the people who believe mankind is directly responsible are right. . . then we need to 'Manage' the problem .
And if the volcano people are right. . . . then we need to 'Adapt' .

It's not a matter of whether or not Global Warming 'exists'. . . ..most of us agree it does. . . . ..but more of a matter of whether we 'Manage' or 'Adapt' .

Do you think we all can find 'common ground'....agreeing that it exists. . . and then researching the 'Cause' ???

I hope that some of you who blasted Conservatives, know that I am a Conservative . We don't discard the theory... . we question it's validity . And every good Liberal knows full well about 'questioning things' , now don't they !!!

Well, not only is there a problem with agreeing on whether or not global warming exist, there is a problem agreeing on solutions. I decided to put out a garden thinking less trips to the grocery store equals less emissions and it turns out I was wrong. Apparently tilling he land releases CO2 into the atmosphere. Then I read more into non-till methods and the ones I found talked about manure and top soil, kind of ignoring that top soil isn't produced, you have to dig it up and increased cows means more methane in the atmosphere.

So this pretty much explains why there is a problem getting people to take global warming seriously. When being environmentally conscious just makes you into a different type of planet killer, you quickly stop caring. People do care and are doing things to help but we have to realize not everything is a cure all and we will have to take the good with the bad. The sense of helplessness that a lot of global warming persons push needs to go. I still get a kick out of the black smoke that was produced making the commercial of the train heading toward the little girl, but there should be a message of hope rather than we are heading downhill fast.

You will have to manage AND adapt. Stay away from volcanos.

As for the CO2 that Al gore is so worried about. We've got about 6 BILLION people exhaling it on a daily basis. Not to mention all the rest of the animals on this planet. And then there are those people who insist on not living in caves..... The list goes on and on.

The last report I heard if we stopped burning fossil fuels today we might see the effects by the year 2100. And then we might not-- the jury is still undecided.

Global warming does exist. It's been existing since the peak of the last Ice Age when the land bridge let people migrate to the Americas. Mother Nature will take care of the problem. We may not survive her solution but then neither did the Dinosaurs.

Right now I think we should both manage and adapt.. knowing that to some extent there will always be global warming and cooling we have to adapt.. the Sahara wasn't always a desert after all...but we don't have to speed the process by our own means.. to me that is the big thing..that global warming is no longer just a natural cycle.. or at least that this cycle is not completely natural...we should work on the damage WE are causing.. and leave the rest to nature and do our best to keep up... I don't want to stop global warming.. just leave it at a natural pace.

Nearly all the peer reviewed science validates the theory that mankind contributes to global warming. The skeptic's research is usually paid for by corporate sponsors who have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. One thing is undeniable, and that is we that have a golden opportunity for innovative people to develop clean alternatives to fossil fuels.

The only reason I can think that cons don't believe in or willing to believe in Global Warming, despite evidence is because then they would actually have to take action and do work to change it. Get a smaller vehicle that uses less gas, recycle, buy products that have been recycled, etc. They love their big cars and throwing everything in the garbage for the landfills.

I would LOVE for people tocome together on this...even though a volcanic eruption causes more harm, we can't control volcanoes. In fact the only thing we CAN control is ourselves...at least some of us can control ourselves...some just don't want to be bothered with change. I don't get the difference between 'adapt' and 'change'. Those who recognize global warming as a threat are operating from fatcs...ALL of them

Many of the measures that politicians are screaming about will, if implemented, disrupt economic growth in developed countries, and severely damage the economies of developing countries.

People fail to see that this will in many ways hinder the ability of the poorest countries to adapt to the effects of climate changes, which will likely continue despite what Washington and the U.N. spit out.

I don't think you will get a consensus on this. There are a good number of Conservatives that do no feel Global Warming exists because of Hannity and Limbaugh. They will not change until Hannity and Limbaugh say otherwise.

We do need more research and we do need to try and find what we can do to manage it. Some of it will be merely adapting, but a great deal will require some changes. There is only ONE earth.

All I'll agree to is that we have seen some climate change. I don't agree that it can be projected into the future. IF (& that's a BIG if) what we have seen is part of a long term trend, he have only 2 options: Adaptation or extinction. I much prefer the former.

We need to stop killing the trees to make room for more urban development, and we need to put trees and recreational facilities in places that have gone down and are out of use. We also need to start being more energy efficient.
