I've heard a lot of conservatives claim that Hollywood is entirely left-wing and that they don't like it. Well, if that's the case, have any of these same conservatives given up on watching TV or going to the movies altogether?

John: I read more than I watch TV, also, but you still didn't answer my question. Have you completely given up on watching TV and going to the movies?

Johnny 2 Times: Don't you know that every time you go to the movies, you're probably putting money into some liberal's pocket?

Well "modern" conservatives like to view anything they don't like as being a result of "liberals." As if there were some liberal secret agenda masterminds were pushing forward (which is frankly giving the liberals far too much credit). Gays are liberal, drugs are liberal, education is liberal, anything that turns one against the republican party or that isn't liked is considered liberal.
And I happen to be a traditional conservative (as they used to be before the big party sell outs in the 80s and 90s) who knows better. So yes, I watch TV and go to movies, and I can also tell that much of it is politically neutral, not as "left wing" as many would have you believe.

Hollywood IS left-wing biased... there in no debating that. That has nothing to do with the value of ENTERTAINMENT. I can watch an actor that I don't like politically, but still appreciate the craft that they practice. If I think a show/movie is politically biased, then I can choose not to watch it.
To give up on movies or TV completely would brand me as an extremist, which I am not. No hypocrisy, just reality.

Just saw "Amazing Grace" last night, during the Oscars. Been to 3 movies in the last month or so.
I don't have a ton of TV time, and some of that is usually with my kids anyway.
Bottom line, you've heard wrong.

I would not count on it.
Regardless of political posture, we still want to be entertained.
But, I have pretty much stopped going to the movies. There have been very few come out in the last 5-6 years that made me jump up and scream "I WANNA GO SEE THAT ONE - AND I HAVE TO SEE IT AT A THEATER!!!"
Everything that has come out lately -with a few exceptions - is a 2 hour Saturday Night Live skit...2 hours is too long for that nonsence.

I admire many actors and actresses for their acting ability, so I watch some TV and movies. While they are entitled to their political opinions, I don't have to take them seriously or agree with them.
What bothers alot of people is that these people seem to think it's their duty to tell the rest of the country what and how to think, as if they are somehow "smarter" than the rest of us.

Interesting question.
I avoid Hollywood altogether. I don't go to theatres and I don't rent movies. The only exceptions I make are animation.
As far as television, I get most of my news on the internet, so I don't watch network news. The other other shows I watch are comedy/cartoons.

Conservatives should be singing the praises of Hollywood for being a fine example of successful capitalism.

What does one have to do with the other. I don't like cutting down tress, but that doesn't mean I am going to stop using toilet paper. I don't always support a persons view, but why should I live in the dark and never have any source of entertainment? Of course I am not a huge movie person to begin with, I prefer the outdoors, but I just wanted you to know how ignorant you question is.

I have not completely given up movies and tv as entertainment, but there are some actors that I will not give my money to.
