As many have suggested above, limewire is pretty good. There ARE free versions of it (the newer versions you may have to pay for). Bearshare also works pretty good. The only drawback to Bearshare, though, is that it comes with adware. One of the adware programs you can delete, but the other (that will get picked up by most anti-spyware programs) has to stay on your computer in order to run Bearshare, but it's mild adware that really doesn't pose a threat to your computer.
Of course, though, as a musician myself, I don't recommend downloading music illegally, but I realize sometimes there are those rare songs that you can't find on itunes and other pay-per-song download sites. If you do decide to use Limewire or Bearshare, though, I would make sure you disable the ability to have people download songs from you, as sharing your files will make you more susceptible to being tracked down for downloading illegally.

lime twine is the perfect. it filters out the crap and prevents any corrupt data. it is likewise the perfect web site for downloading movies. I easily have used 3 diverse websites and function had problems with the different 2. I easily have in no way had subject concerns with lime twine. desire this helped.

Last FM is legal, and try the previews on iTunes, I'm not into stealing those poor record label's money... Like Grandma always said... "If you're gunna steal a song, you might as well steal a bank!" lol...

limewire is a wiked website but it costs 25 quid to sign up but even so then you can download as many songs as you want until u lose ur MP3 player!!!
