I hope that they trade him, considering I'm a Flames fan.

I am sure you would love them to trade him to the Flames right? Smyth probably won't be going anywhere. He is the best player on the team-if not the most consistent. He type of talent does not rely on his linemates-he just goes to the net and makes plays happen. I am sure there is plenty of interest in a player like him for the playoffs-but what would other teams have to give up for a player of his caliber?

The Oilers would be fools to trade Ryan Smyth. He IS the Oilers. He is the ultimate team player.

Ryan Smyth is a career Oiler. He'll never leave. He might have to go through arbitration when his contract is up but he'll stay in Edmonton.

he is a quality player that needs to go to a big market team so he can get that big pay check. its his time to cash in and the oilers do not have the funds to pay him what he wants. the oilers will move him before the trade deadline, or will end up losing him when his contract expires and not get anything in return

They better not trade Ryan Smyth. That would be a total loss!

I think they will trade him as a "rent-a-player" and then sign him back in the off season since he is a free agent at the end of this season. Smart move it edmonton does it.
