I think your question is exactly what is wrong with the political process in the united states. A voter should not be judging a party, but more so a candidate. How can I say which party would make a better choice when I don't even know the candidates. Within both parties opinions greatly vary. While, it is true that George Bush, has struggled in many area, that is not to say that the republicans don't deserve to have a new candidate heard. Several issues are in the forefront of the election for this great country, and it is important to hear a candidate's views on the issue; not a party's. While the biggest attention getter seems to be the war in Iraq, it is by far not the only issue. Social Security, Healthcare, and Environmental causes are threaten to destroy this great country of ours.
Just because a candidate represents a party does not me he/she is a puppet to that party. While I want to avoid singling out candidates or representing my bias toward them I will give an example. John MCcain and rudy Giulianni are both republics, but are not necessarily conservative in thier views. So while party loyality exists, it should not be the deciding factor in casting your vote. Look at the issues that are important to you, and decide that way.

This is gonna get uncivil pretty quickly.

Democrat or Repubican doesn't really matter, just as long as they're a centrist. A centrist will listen the people and enact policies for the good of those people. The left and right wings really f-up this country equally.

I would not choose by the party but by the candidate.
Some democrats are great, some republicans are great.

Generally, Republican. Except in Rudy Guliano's case. He is a Liberal in Sheeps clothing......
Although there have been a few Dems, that were worth a look at.

Well, since the Republicans have done such a bang up job, I think it's time to let the Democrats give it a go.
