It's been a state for a long time and years since slavery has been in place here. I hope you are joking and not serious

And to another person before you say Texas is decades behind other states try visiting the state first to see if your assumption is true.

Texas was the last state to ban slavery as I recall...

Historically speaking it happened on June 19, 1865. There is a holiday celebrating this event called "Juneteenth." It is also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day. Many states celebrate this holiday.
