As mentioned earlier, it mostly has to do with your recent diet.

Foods high in fats tend to produce poops which are less dense, and more likely to float.

I can also personally attest to the fact that a diet consisting of almost nothing but whiskey for a week will produce some serious sinkers.

depends on what you ate for the past few days. some foods are dense, therefor sinking, some are lighter, therefor floating.

Floaters are less dense than water and the sinkers are more dense than water. It all depends on the make-up of the residues from the foods you ate.
