Well, what does she like? I know I love candles and fairys (cant ya tell) and dragons and stuff like that. So my husband has always gotten me trinkets like that.
I don't know where you live, but does she like theatre or broadway? How about a concert of a performer that she really loves. And if the concert isn't for another couple of months, that's fine also.
Think about her hobbies and likes and go from there.

I would suggest a scrapbook / memory album - all you'd have to do is pick out pictures of the two of you and send them in. Women love thoughtful gifts like that! I used www.justynas-scrapbooks.com - they have various packages and they give you quotes based on the number of pictures you want or how big your scrapbook will be. You should be able to stay under $250 unless you have hundreds of pictures.

Be creative and unique. Women like to be pampered! Try a nice dinner (home cooked if you can do that), romantic bed time starting off with a massage. Light candles in the bedroom. Lead her in there to notice the nice lingerie you bought her sitting on the bed in a pile of scattered rose petals.....I will leave it at that, you take it from there!

If you have kids take her on a Romantic Dinner just the two of you and maybe stay at a hotel for the night so you can have 100% devotion time to each other.

My wife and i just had our 15th year ann..i had no ideal what to get her so i went to peoples jewelers and the lady there gave me a card. And this card describes what gift goes with what year..for example 25 years is diamond..well i just checked the card and for the 6th anniv. the gift should be made of wood..so get her a nice sculpture..or bench ..or hutch..as long as it's made of wood .then go to peoples.and get yourself one of these cards and show it to her when you give her the gift and she'll be happy you went with tradition..for our anniversary it was Watches..so instead i bought her a nice leather coat at Danier leathers..and you can too .they have really nice leather coats there for less than 200..

Traditional gifts for the 6th year are: Candy or Iron so you could go with a rot iron patio furniture set
Modern gifts for the 6th year are: Wood so you could give her anything from a sapling you plant together to framed art work...

Traditionally -Iron- is the symbol for -6- years. My husband bought a wrought iron flower pedastal from Pottery Barn and filled it with beautiful flowers! He also bought the wrought iron candle holders with it ... we use them every Saturday on our Date Night. Congrats and Good Luck!
