It's a diversionary tactic that they've mastered. Those in the White House have been using it quite successfully to usurp our Constitutional rights, freedoms and liberties... "Weapons of Mass Destruction" to get us into a war for the purpose of their cronies profiteering (overpriced oil, goods and services), by using "bogeyman" stories (terrorists) and telling us that we're in a war to give Iraq and Afghanistan democracy while our OWN democratic rights, freedoms and liberties are being dissolved, and we're letting this administration undo many decades of work toward universal human rights dwindle away in a matter of months with clandestine prisons, secret prisoners not allowed to defend themselves or have access to legal counsel.. . and the use of torture! The same things human rights we fought many decades for during the Geneva Convention meetings... all gone down the drain for the sake of the egoistical manicac in the White House, who's too stupid to realize how he's set our Nation back in world public opinion!
They used the threat of illegal aliens when questioned about the missing surplus left by the previous administration for Social Security and Medicare... they came up with Patriot Act in order to herd us and used scare tactic by way of the presence of armed military personnel, which is nothing more than a veiled threat... and to spy on us and make shambles of our Constitution.
It's all a joke to them, as we lose more and more American lives in this contrived war that they would never suggest to their own relatives to participate in... as their cronies continue to amass greater fortunes.

The neocons focus on trivial matters because they know that at least 1/2 of the country will follow along behind such trivialties as a matter of course. Considering its size, people in the U.S. do NOT always think for themselves. They prefer the "lead" story on Fox 5, they repeat what they hear whether it is true or not, they sing praises to whomever it is easier to believe,(or who they like for the moment) and they are vulnerable, easily led, and manipulated. As the questioner has pointed out they DO focus on silly things. But then, who cares at this point. Most who focus on the looks of others look odd or funny themselves. Look at the members of Congress? the Senate? Lined faces, loss of lips; loss of hair ("rugs" ****** sideways); out of shape; pocked marked faces, and on and on and on.
As far as the "color of one's skin, I must laugh. Those who focus on such nonsense need to look around. This country is becoming browner and browner. Young, vibrant, smart, intelligent people could care less.

It's like Highschools all having some trivia "Were the best in" obscure issue.
East side Lions are number one in student Audubon participation.
This is all that is holding the NeoCons together now. They are number one in unread Bibles.

It seems to run in both liberal and conservative circles alike. Why? Hate. What causes hate? Fear. In reality these are little people whose bark is much worse than their bite.

Ask John Ashcroft. He's the one who spent $3,000 of our tax money to cover up boobs on a statue.

I think the first poster hit it on the head, between all the bumper sticker jokes on Bush's last name and Cheney's first, I can hardly see the liberal position at all.

I have focused on the war on terror, and our military people, who fight and die to save America and her freedom. Is that little to you?
By the way, Hillary is ugly.
