That all depends on how much you value your nights sleep. I have tried both - the very inexpensive set that I got from one of those "blowout deals" places, and now, I am sleeping the best sleep of my life on a top of the line beauty rest with 4"memory foam mattress topper. I have a permanent neck injury and after trying both - I will never use anything but what I've got now. Try out some different types to be sure whats best for you. You can visit a mattress showroom and lay down on every mattress in the whole place - I did. And It was worth it! Good luck.

Sometimes the cheaper ones are refurbished or something, I watched some kind of special report on the news and got grossed out, because if they are not new and previously used, they found bedbugs, so be sure to find out if the mattress you want to buy is new. I wouldn't go with anything else.
