This lies in the extreme NW corner of Italy, bordered by the southern slopes of Mont Blanc, the Gran Paradiso and the Mt. Rosa ranges. Its landscape is all mountain peaks, glaciers, hills, mountain streams, pastures, forests and castles. The renowned resort of Saint Vincent has villas, fashionable night-clubs and the Casino, the venue for conferences, entertainment and cultural events alike. Its cuisine includes polenta, carbonade and chamois, served with Gamay and Chambave raisin wines.

Mountains and plains, rivers, cities, farming and industry all live together in harmony in this region, united in an architectural and psychological whole. The round hilly area of Monferrato, the indented terrain of the Langhe, the misty tributaries of the Po, the lakeside. Its wonderful Castles, its history, and museums, abbeys and cathedrals, everywhere. The Automobile Museum, the technology hall, and two 'workshops' Turin's major motorcar manufacturer, and Europe's number one typewriter manufacturer in Ivrea are a "must" for the industry-minded visitor. But Turin also has its 18th c. architecture, its bronze equestrian statues, its Mole Antonelliana, Egyptian Museum, and Superga. A glimpse at Piedmont's lakes, Maggiore and Orta, its mountain resorts that are so many fully equipped gymnasiums for climbers and skiers to suit everyone. The bonviveur has game, truffles and fondue, accompanied by Barolo, Barbera and Gattinara wines.
