I find it funny that the people answering this question are attacking the author for bad grammer when they need to be attacked for their ignorance of baseball. Jackie Robinson WAS NOT the first black person to play baseball in the Major Leagues, although he was the first after a very long absence of blacks due to segregation and racism.
I would give a thumbs up (if I wasn't level 1) to the ONLY person to get the correct answer of Moses Fleetwood Walker who played in professional baseball for the first time on May 1, 1884.
EDIT: two got it correct, one snuck in while I was typing.

Jackie Robinson was the first African-American of the modern era to play in baseball's major leagues. Only white players were accepted in the major leagues until 1947, when Robinson was called up to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson was named Rookie of the Year and went on to appear in six World Series in ten seasons with the Dodgers (1947-56). Other major league teams soon followed Brooklyn's lead and hired black players of their own. Robinson's stellar play, and his role in breaking the color barrier, led to his 1962 induction as the first African-American in baseball's Hall of Fame.

Moses Walker, Frank Grant was the first black proffesional in a white league. He only played minor league ball. There are unsubstantieated stories about blacks passing as cubans and indians during the early 1900's and even into the 20's.
