The spotted owl (Strix occidentalis) is a bird in the Order Strigiformes, Family Strigidae (the true owls).

As far as I know, there are no regular classifications that split the Strigiformes order into separate suborders, and thus there is no subordinal classification for the species.

Here's a site with some general information on the spotted owl, their relatives and their classification.

Striginae? The suborder is not really a particularly useful classification at this level.

Do you mean subspecies? The subspecies is lucida.
