I have been working out for about 4 weeks. Recently I have a strange discomfort, not soreness, in my left pec. Should I stop lifting? I was really doing good til now.

I lift every other day and run in between. I only do the major gruops once every 6 days that way. I might have tried lifting too much on the bench. I felt nothing strange until a day or two later. It just feels uncomfortable, maybe slightly pulled. I don't want to really hurt it bad, but I don't want to stop my workout either. Is it ok to test the waters?

Did you try lifting something you weren't ready for? If not, don't worry about it, it's likely that you just got to a point where you diddn't heal from the last time. Ussualy I get there the first couple workouts after slacking off. I work out all the more to get rid of it. few times a day, every day. Then back on normal routine.
How often are you lifting reps, sets, days? If your doing this too much, you will put a hault to your gains and may even go in reverse. This could also be your problem with discomfort.
Need more advice just ask. I can help with supplemental support as well as work out. It is hard to tell you what to do, when I don't know what you're doing already, what your plans are, and where your going.

A strange discomfort with no pain is probably nothing to worry about. You may simply have tightness or a slight case of inflammation in the pectoral muscle. Continue with your normal routine and keep a close eye on it. You know your body best, and if it is telling you to back off, heed the advice. Make sure you are gradually increasing your loads every week. If it continues to be a problem or if you experience any pain you may want to see a specialist. Good luck.

I'd say that you should significantly reduce your amount of weight for that area and continue your routine; consider cutting the reps in half. Take an anti-inflammatory before you hit the gym (aspirin or ibuprophen with food). If your body is hurting, it's trying to tell you something. If lessening the weight and reps don't help, ask your fittness expert at the gym or consult a Physical therapist. Godloveya.
