...will you receive a first edition copy? I've heard that this will be the last book in the series (not sure how true that is), and I have the first 6 in first edition. I'd like to have the last in first edition as well, but I'd also like to pre-order.

Any clues?

All accounts say that it is the last in the series.

I would contact your selected vendor to see about the first edition information you are asking about.

Yes you will receive the first edition copy if you pre-order. And yes it is the last book of the series, which is why I highly recommend the pre-order because it will be a dog fight it you purchase the book retail. Here are some suggestions for pre-order:

If you order the book through a Web site, such as Barnes & Noble, Amazon and maybe even Borders, you will receive the book around noon to afternoon on the day of the release, July 21, via the postal service. However, if you pre-order at a store, such as Hastings, the book will be release for pre-order pickup at midnight, which is what I will probably be doing because release parties always have free stuff, food, etc. Plus you get to read the book as early as possible.

If you pre-order Deathly Hallows for its July 21 release it will definitely be a first edition, as that is what will be coming out on that date. The book has never been published before, so there are no other editions out there.

I am not sure if you can get a first edition when you pre order. I would suggest going to Barnes & Nobles website or maybe Amazon. That is where most people are pre ordering there copies. Look around there and hopefully you will find something useful. Sorry I can't be of more help but I am actaully staying out until midnight to get my copy.
