Why do you think that most, but not all, Hollywood "types" seem to be to the "left" in their politics?

Could it be because the Communist were active in Hollywood during the 1930's, 40's, and 50? Even Ronald Reagan had a flartation with them in his early years out there. What do you think?

I think unequal distribution of wealth makes some types of wage earners, primarily actors and musicians, uncomfortable with their wealth while others are living in relative poverty by comparison. Conservative republicanism is perceived as the party of greed.

The county has been carried by the Democrats in every presidential election since 1988, and was the only Idaho county carried by the Democrats in the 2000 and 2004 elections, with approximately two-thirds of its vote going of John Kerry in 2004. Blaine County's reputation as a resort and celebrity attraction has created a situation where the cost of living, particularly in housing, is significantly higher than the rest of the state. As a result many people who work in Blaine County live in outlying areas, particularly Shoshone in neighboring Lincoln County.

I don't think communist ideology is a factor.

I don't think it is because of the history of past actors. Rather, I think the actors' personalities are more suited to liberal ideas. A liberal tries to figure out how to make the world better than it is (and sometimes fails). A conservative thinks the world is pretty good, and doesn't want to mess with it too much. People who spend so much time imagining, like actors, will lean more toward the idea that they need to do something about the bad things in the world, and can't be satisfied with how they are.

Easy question.

Creative people, musicians and actors and artists, have great empathy and intellectual curiousity. They are deep thinking and feeling people, which is what allows them to walk in another's shoes well enough to portray them in film, etc..and write and create music that conveys emotion and reaches other people.

Creative people have great imaginations, and actually believe we can become the America pretend to be.

Actors, writers and directors are to the left because they are mistreated by the studio heads, who are to the right. They are to the right because they are greedy. If they thought there was more money to be made in movies and TV shows that were not patriotic, pro-war and pro-capitalism, they would make those movies and TV shows because they want money. Which explains David Geffen and a few others: He wants money, and he thinks he can make more on the left than on the right.
