The cell would be the house itself. The different compartments would be the rooms. For instance:

1. Nucleus would be where the DNA is made, so let's say it's the kitchen.
2. The bathroom would be where waste exists the cell, so let's make them lysosomes.
3. The golgi apparatus could be the hallways and stairs away from the kitchen.
4. The endoplasmic reticulum is the site of lipid synthesis, so I would make this the deep fryer.
5. The mitochondrion is where power is made, so I would make that the electricity coming to the house. Without it you can't light your house.
6. The cell membrane can be represented by the outside of your house and the windows, door are the proteins that allow products in and out of your house (cell).
7. The backyard and front yard could be your extracellular matrix.
