I just had my 2nd back surgery. After my 1st, I have been lucky to keep a job for a few months till my back gives out. I have no family or close friends since I was adopted and cast out at 15, so I have no one to help or lean on. I work till my back gives out...then I lose all I have. I have been going through this since 93. I am not lazy, but my mind goes quicker than my body allows, and I have to work to stay alive. It is hard, a few months at a time. Thank God for friends. But how do I prove I really can't work? I can work for a time and feel ok, but not for long. Just like a test they had at physical theripy of climbing a ladder. It took about 2 minuets to climb in pain. I could do it with pain, so they wrote I can do it. Gee, so much for being honest. I could do it, doesn't mean I did it like a normal person or not have to suffer later. Any ideas?

You will need solid objective documentation and test results in order to get SSDI and more than likely, you will be denied at your initial application. Don't be discouraged, almost everyone is. If you are truly disabled, MRI's and X-rays should substantiate it. Copies of such test results should be submitted to the SSA. Having an attorney or group that assists in the application and processes can help, and many of them do not charge a fee up front if they truly think you have a case. What they'll do is charge you 25% of the retroactive award when the SSA awards you.

Its a long process. You need a doctor to prove your disablitty you need to apply and tehn wait. My brother in law is scitzo and it took him 3 or 4 years to collect it. You get back pay when your finally awarded but he was homless and lived off my sister for a quite a long time. Best of luck its not easy!

All your visits to the dr., therapist, etc., need good documentation. Then you need to find a lawyer that specializes in diability claims. You'll have to find one that won't make you pay until the diability comes through. It will still be time consuming, but once you find a lawyer (they ARE out there), it'll happen. Get all yo medical documenttion that you can to take to the lawyer. Good luck.
